The first day was basically a travel day on an Amtrak train up to NYC, but very enjoyable even though I was extremely nervous carry the ring around with me all day in my coat pocket! We checked into an awesome room on the 26th floor of The Alex Hotel in Midtown Manhattan East. It was a pretty good location as it was right across the street from the Bierhaus, a German style beer garden that served Hofbrau beers from Munich!
